Dr. Gustavo Diaz joins The Department of Political Science as a Post-Doctoral Fellow
Gustavo studies how information shapes accountability and representation in the Global South. This agenda also informs a research program on research design tradeoffs in quantitative social science.
Sep 08, 2022
At McMaster, Gustavo will work on two research projects. The first seeks to understand the unintended consequences of publicizing politicians’ performance in office in Latin America, primarily in the context of corruption revelation at the local level in Brazil. The second project develops standards to navigate trade-offs across research design features in survey and field experiments with the goal of improving statistical precision at the pre-analysis stage.
He will also work with Dr. Dion on research related to the relationships among gender, research methodologies, and research impact in the social sciences.
Gustavo received his PhD from the Department of Political Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Before joining McMaster, Gustavo was a postdoctoral fellow at the Center for Inter-American Policy and Research at Tulane University.
Please join us in welcoming Gustavo to the Department!
